Why we are here, why you are here.

Single or married, young or old, male or female, it's time to get honest!
Honest with ourselves, honest with our mate, honest with our God.

God has given us the most beautiful gift a husband and wife can share together, the gift of unity and oneness through the bond of sex. Sex is much more than just a physical act. As humans, every aspect of our being is affected by this gift; physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

Because of sin, this wonderful gift has been misused, abused and perverted; leading to many extremely harmful consequences that affect many more people than just the individuals involved. The list of dangers and problems associated with sexual sin is extensive and usually affects multiple aspects simultaneously; physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. God has given us guidelines to help protect us (from ourselves) and to get the most out of His blessed gift. It's time for us to get back to the standard God has established for us, but in order to do that we must break free of the chains of sexual sin. It can be done. It's time to get honest, are you ready?

Have you ever heard someone say something similar to the quotes below?

Ever said them yourself? I know I have, that's where I got most of them.

Do you agree or disagree? Let's see what God says.
"It's ok to look, I'm married, not dead."
Matthew 5:28 (NLT)
(KJV) (Msg) (Amp)
But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust in his eye has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
"Just because I'm on a diet doesn't mean I can't look at the menu."
Hebrews 13:4 (NLT)
(KJV) (Msg) (Amp)
Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery. (note: adultery is defined by Jesus in the verse above)
"It's my body, it's only natural."
1 Corinthians 6:13b (NLT)
(KJV) (Msg) (Amp)
But our bodies were not made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.
"It's not my fault, it's human nature."
1 Corinthians 6:18 (NLT)
(KJV) (Msg) (Amp)
Run away from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.
"This is the way God made me."
James 1:13-14 (NLT)
(KJV) (Msg) (Amp)
And remember, no one who wants to do wrong should ever say, "God is tempting me." God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else either. Temptation comes from the lure of our own evil desires.
  "It's a guy thing, I can't help it."
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)
(KJV) (Msg) (Amp)
But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can't stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it.
"I'm single and free to do what I want."
1 Corinthians 6:15-17 (NLT)
(KJV) (Msg) (Amp)
Don't you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ? Should a man take his body, which belongs to Christ, and join it to a prostitute? Never! And don't you know that if a man joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? For the Scriptures say, "The two are united into one."
  "I'm not hurting anyone."
James 1:14-15 (NLT)
(KJV) (Msg) (Amp)
Temptation comes from the lure of our own evil desires. These evil desires lead to evil actions, and evil actions lead to death.
"There's nothing wrong with enjoying the scenery."
Galatians 5:19, 21(NLT)
(KJV) (Msg) (Amp)
When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, your lives will produce these evil results: sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure,... Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
  "I simply appreciate beauty."
Colossians 3:5 (NLT)
(KJV) (Msg) (Amp)
So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual sin, impurity, lust, and shameful desires. Don't be greedy for the good things of this life, for that is idolatry.
  "It's art."
Philippians 4:8 (NLT)
(KJV) (Msg) (Amp)
Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Sexual desire is a God-given gift to be cherished and honored within the proper boundaries. God designed sexual activity to be pleasing and mutually enjoyable between husband and wife. All other immoral sexual thoughts and activities carry with them extreme consequences and heartache, including physical disease, emotional disease, relational disease, and spiritual disease.

There is forgiveness. There is grace. There is healing. There is hope.
